본 연구는 동물보건활동이 포함된 동물매개교육이 지역아동센터 아동의 생명존중인식과 자기효능감에 미치는 영향을 알아보는 것이 목적이다.
연구대상은 A시에 위치한 G 지역아동센터 이용 아동 11명이며 실험집단 5명, 통제집단 6명으로 나뉘어 진행하였다.
본 프로그램은 동물의 질병을 예방하고 생명을 증진할 수 있는 동물 보건 활동을 통해 직접 살아있는 동물에게 돌봄을 수행함으로써 생명존중인식과 자기효능감이 향상될 수 있도록 동물매개교육을 구성하였으며, 실험집단에만 교육을 적용하였다.
연구결과 동물보건활동이 포함된 동물매개교육은 실험집단의 생명존중인식과 자기효능감 향상에 통계적으로 유의한 효과가 있었다.
본 연구는 동물매개교육 안에 동물보건활동을 포함시켰다는 점과 가정으로부터의 돌봄이 부족한 아동들이 동물보호와 복지에 대한 실천 방법을 배우고 직접 동물 돌봄을 수행해 보는 것을 통해 생명존중인식과 자기효능감이 향상될 수 있음을 밝혀 동물보건활동 프로그램 개발을 위한 시사점을 제공하였다는 점에서 의의가 있다.
The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of Animal-Assisted Education, including animal health care, on the respectful recognition of life and self-efficacy of children in local children’s centers.
The subjects of this study were 11 children using the G Community Children's Center loacated in City A, and were divided into 5 experimental group and 6 control groups.
This program organized Animal-Assisted Education to improve the respectful recognition of life and self-efficacy by directly caring for living animals through animal health care that can prevent animal diseases and promote life, and applied education only to the experimental group.
As a result of the study, Animal-Assisted Education including animal health care had a statistically significant effect on improving the experimental group's the respectful recognition of life and self-efficacy.
This study is significant in that it includes animal health care in Animal-Assisted Education and that children who lack care from home can improve their respectful recognition of life and self-efficacy by learning how to practice animal protection and welfare and performing animal care themselves.
